Lazy G Motel

I have just received the sad news that Janice Geddis, owner of the Lazy G Motel in West Yellowstone, has decided to sell up and move on.

Janice has owned the Lazy G Motel for the past 27 years having purchased it in 1996 with her husband Dave. Sadly, Dave died from cancer at far too young an age, so Janice has managed the motel ever since. We first stayed there a year after Janice purchased it. Except for 2021 and 2022, during the pandemic, we have stayed at least once every year since. Our final visit was in January and February of this year when I sensed Janice was considering moving on. During that period, we have built up a strong relationship and friendship with Janice, as I am sure have the many clients who have stayed with her over the years.

When Photoventures made its first visit to Yellowstone we researched potential accommodation options and by chance we came upon the Lazy G Motel. We chose it because it had good reviews, family owned, was on the edge of town and a short walk from a restaurant that was highly regarded for the breakfasts it served. As luck would have it, we hit on a little gem, Janice and Dave were so welcoming and helpful. Their motel was homely, clean and comfortable, so from that date on we saw no reason to choose anywhere else when we stayed in West Yellowstone. One lasting legacy for me was that a number of my photographs taken during the many visits now adorn some of the motel rooms.

Over more than a quarter of a century we have enjoyed many highs, and together with our clients have enjoyed many wonderful experiences of Yellowstone. Janice’s hospitality and welcoming smile has been a big part in so many special moments. I am sure that all who have stayed at the Lazy G, will, like Photoventures, want to wish Janice every success and happiness in the next phase of her life, whatever course that will take.
