The year 2026 welcomes thirty-one years of operation of Photoventures. The company began as a collaboration between myself, Roger Reynolds Hon FRPS and Peter Morss ARPS in 1995 and this partnership remained until 2008 when Peter retired from the company. Since 2008 I have operated the company on my own with the support of two good friend Ivan Barrett and Allen Lloyd who have driven the second vehicles on many tours. But in life good things always come to an end and 2026 will be the last year of operation. I would like to thank the many people who joined us on our adventures over the thirty-one years, a lot of them becoming firm friends and joining Photoventures on numerous trips. The day-to-day operation of Photoventures has always been enjoyable as has the exploration of new and exciting locations. It has been a thrill to see so many getting great images from their tours as has being able to help them improve their photography with the many amazing encounters we have seen along the way.

For our final season we will once again be offering two exciting tours to Iceland. The first will be at the start of summer to explore the wildlife, Iceland in bloom and of course the magnificent scenery. Our second tour will be our third circumnavigation of the island. This time, like our first in 2023, we will be doing the anticlockwise route. This tour allows us to visit many well-known and exciting destinations as well as exploring more off the beaten track in the east and far north.

In June we are offering another opportunity to visit Iceland as summer emerges. We hope to see fields of wild lupins in full bloom as well as the many other aspects of the country at this time of year. Of course we will be centring the tour around a wide range of nature opportunities, particularly the varied bird life found throughout the island. With this in mind we will be visiting some wild locations such as Snaefellsnes, Latrabjarg, the northern part of the Western Fjords around Isafjordur and Lake Myvatn, a great location for water birds. Of course, our tour will not be solely about the wildlife as we take in the many other sites in the areas we visit. We will enjoy great waterfalls such as Godafoss and Aldeyjarfoss to name just a few. Having undertaken similar tours in recent years we have timed this tour slightly later in the year in order to capture different aspects of the nature in Iceland.

Later in the year, at the beginning of October we will once again visit Iceland for a longer tour. This will involve a complete circumnavigation of Iceland and will visit many out of the way locations in the north, northeast and east of this amazing country. We will travel the Ring Road (Route 1) anticlockwise along the southern coast to Hofn exploring the many locations along the southern part of the country. We will visit Vik with its wild and rugged coast and onto Jokulsarlon to explore the iceberg lagoon and the amazing Diamond Beach. At the most easterly point of the south coast, we reach Hofn where we will explore the Stokksnes area and reflections of Vesturhorn Along this section we will explore the many waterfalls, some very grand and others more intimate. We then turn north along the wild eastern coastline with towering sea cliffs and rugged sea stacks as well as exploring locations off the beaten path. We will visit many quaint harbours and towns as well as sweeping coastlines. Once we reach Egilsstadir we will explore the remote northeastern coast with its multi-coloured hillsides and wild estuaries. We then cross the mountainous northern section to Lake Myvatn, not forgetting to visit the stunning Studlagil Canyon as we do. We have two nights around Lake Myvatn, time to explore the lake and the thermal fields nearby. Of course, no visit here would be complete without a visit to Godafoss. If weather conditions are good we can also visit the amazing Aldeyjarfoss situated further south in the highlands. We then continue to Siglufjordur via Akureyri and Dalvik to explore the wild northern coastline which we follow to Saudarkrokur and Borgarnes. Our tour will be completed with a detour to spend two nights in Snaefellsnes one of the most exciting locations in Iceland, with wild waterfalls, picturesque churches and imposing mountain scenery. From there we return to Keflavik, detouring to photograph Reykjavik Cathedral.
