Winter in Iceland

Day 1: Sunday 16th February 2025
You fly from London to Keflavik and transfer to our hotel in southern central Iceland, a distance of 133kms.

Day 2: Monday 17th February 2025
We begin our exploration of Iceland with a visit to the Geysir area. We also visit the Gullfoss, Oxarafoss and Urridafoss waterfalls and Skalholt Cathedral.

Day 3: Tuesday 18th February 2025
Our journey takes us east along the southern coast of Iceland to Vik. We explore Seljalansfoss, Skogafoss and the Black Beach and Vik area.

Day 4: Wednesday 19th February 2025
Today we have the option of a tour to the Katla ice caves. For this we will use a specialist operator and there will be an additional charge of about £162 (2024 prices). Our journey then takes us to Kirkjubaejarklauster. En route we explore the wild landscape of Eidhraun. We stop to visit Stjornarfoss and Systrafoss.

Day 5: Thursday 20th February 2025
Today we travel to Hofn and visit Jokulsarlon. On our journey we also visit Foss a sidu and Hofkirka. On arrival at Hofn we will visit the harbour for the evening light and dinner.

Day 6: Friday 21st February 2025
We spend time visiting the local area starting with visit to the town of Hofn. We visit Vesturhorn and Stokksnes to photograph the lagoon for which there is a small admission charge. We then head north to Hvalnes.

Day 7: Saturday 22nd February 2025
In the early morning we drive west retracing our journey to Selfoss, our overnight stop. We will of course allow time to capture plenty of the exciting locations along the southern part of Iceland, including another visit to the Black Beach at Vik dependent on light and weather conditions.

Day 8: Sunday 23rd February 2025
We drive from Hveragerdi to the Snaefellsnes peninsular. This route takes us to northern Reykjavik and past Borgarnes. We should arrive in plenty of time to allow us to explore the area around Budir before crossing the mountains to capture the evening light at Kirkjufell.

Day 9: Monday 24th February 2025
We drive from Selfoss to the Snaefellsnes peninsular. This route takes us to northern Reykjavik and Borgarnes. We should arrive in plenty of time to allow us to explore the area around Budir before crossing the mountains to capture the evening light at Kirkjufell.

Day 10: Tuesday 25th February 2025
In the morning we explore around the Snaefellsnes Peninsular. In the mid-afternoon we make our way to Borgarnes where we join Route 1 for the short journey to Hvalfjardsveit and our hotel.

Day 11: Wednesday 26th February 2025
In the morning we explore around Hvalfjordur before we drive to Keflavik airport in ample time to grab some lunch before joining our afternoon flight back to London.
